I am a christian counselor and seeking to add life coach as another component to my practice. I have appreciated reading your newsletter and books and am responding to your last newsletter i received today 6/26/07. I would like to have a longer newsletter or an added article regarding a specific topic discussed more in depth. I am also interested in hearing more about the trends in our profession and how to becomem better equipped to meet the needs of those who cross our doorstep. I read your first book on coaching two years ago and have been trying to follow other teachings I can find from you. I am actually disappointed because you have so many professional qualities that I am interested in yet I sense the possibility of our paths crossing are slim unless you ever come to florida or the east coast. I think if the newsletter is longer you could do it 2xs a month or so. Also helping us to stay informed of new resources that are sound christian sources that we could benefit from is helpful also. Thank you for your dedication to the profession and allowing some "late bloomers" like myself to hear your "voice of experience". Carol
I remain genuinely grateful for your wide reading and sharing of essential insights. Your bulleted summaries make ideal PDA notes and memos for later review and reflection. Your example of sharing freely reveals, and perhaps cultivates, your godly character. Sometimes, an ISBN would help to follow-up on your sources.
Please continue in the same format! It is so easy to absorb and I frequently forward them to folks who don't have a lot of spare time -- so the brief and specific content really works.
Your newsletter is practical and helpful to me as chief operations officer of an education association. I share its insights on coaching with the four vice presidents that report to me and ask them to pass it along to other managers. Your work is therefore helpful to more than professional counselors!
I have been receiving Gary's letters for about 4 years and appreciate very much the ongoing stimulation and encouragement in improving my work as a counsellor and especially as a Christian professional. I think the present format would be accessible to the highest number of people. I generally do not have the time or the motivation to check out blogs -too time consuming. I prefer the email system.
I am a new life coach seeking to continue my coaching awareness and increase my business. We used your book last year in the ILCT Christian track and I refer to it often.
I like the format you have at present. It is simple in its design. I like the fact that it doesn't have alot of colors or graphics. It is a concise length but always contains good points. I have asked to have my e-mail address deleted from a number of newsletters from other sources as they take too long to wade through. Yours is easily readable within a couple minutes and I appreciate the fact that you generally cover 2 topics of varied interest. I have done searches on some of the sources that you've taken your material from which has increased my awareness of the issue you refer to. I think that twice a month works well as far as frequency goes. I do like having a newsletter archive link listed on the e-mail which would remind us that the past newsletters have been great too and are easily accessible.
Have you considered putting a link in the e-mail which would allow us to connect to a podcast on your website? I enjoy listening to podcasts when I'm driving, riding on the train and would enjoy hearing you speak sometime. It doesn't have to be really long. Just a thought.
I appreciate the encouragement you give to coaches and look forward to more newsletters.
I enjoy and appreciate your Newsletter. Thank you for all the time and thought you put into it. The insights, wisdom and practical help are so valuable, and as part of a coaching organisation, I find it helpful to hear what other Christians are saying about coaching.
In answer to your specific questions: format - good, easy to cut and paste - I like to receive it as an email - Its the right length - its good to have it so regular, but I wouldnt want it to get too much of a commitment for you, so every two weeks would be fine too
Gary Collins (that’s me) is a life coach, licensed clinical psychologist (with a PhD from Purdue University), and professor of leadership and coaching at Psychological Studies Institute. I’ve written a bunch of books, founded and edited "Christian Counseling Today" magazine, and was co-founder and first president of the American Association of Christian Counselors. I am still writing books, am an avid reader, work out most days at a local fitness center, and am determined to be committed as a follower of Jesus. I speak at conferences (frequently overseas), most often concerning the emergent church, coaching and coach training, leadership, and trends in Christian counseling. In addition to personal coaching and consulting on issues relating to leadership and coaching, I have a special interest in the emergent church and in mentoring and learning from next-generation leaders.
My wife Julie and I were married in 1964, have two daughters, and live in Northern Illinois. This newsletter usually arises from my reading, student contacts, and opportunities to interact every week with creative and interesting people – including the people who read my newsletter and respond to this blog.

I like the newsletters - they help me feel connected to a broader evolving learning circle.
Blogs seem more informal and not necessarily any more appealing. Podcasts are too time consuming for me. I can scan written material faster.

Thanks for the many wise words in concise format. The present format is great with two short articles.
Pls do not move to a blog. Too bothersome to log into a blog to read.
Present format of email direct to mailbox is great. We can read immediately or save to read i n leisure.
Thank you again for been such a blessing
